Deciding on Decision Making - Part Two

So now you are well and truly rehearsed on the idea that perfecting the art of decision making is imperative for your success. Whatever that may be, your ability to make decisions in a timely manner will free you from the shackles of indecision and set the wheels in motion across all aspects of your life. 

So with that being said, let’s go deeper. The absolute fundamental principle at the heart of decision making is to decide right where you are with whatever you have got. Let me say that again…

Decide where you are with what you have got. 

I don’t know about you but to me that very clearly means that you don’t go away and think on it for a couple of weeks and you don’t make a decision based on where you will be 2 years down the track when you finally get that promotion you’ve been hoping for, for 6 months. It means you literally stop and decide right then and there. 

Most people never completely comprehend this concept because they authorise external resources and outside factors to dictate if and when a decision will be made. We are so conditioned to seek guidance, approval and opinion from others external to ourselves and frankly it’s holding us back. When we are living true to who we really are, we should only be allowing our actions and decisions to be directed by our spirit. Instead, we are allowing our potential to be manipulated by others who really shouldn’t be anywhere near the driver's seat. 

You’re probably sitting there thinking “this is all well and good but what about the money discussion?”. I can tell you, money has nothing to do with it. Once you make the decision on something, you will find the money to do it. Every single time. Consider this the neon flashing sign that we all figuratively look for - burn the idea into your memory. 

Money should never enter your thoughts when you are making a decision on something. The only question that should ever be asked is do you want it or not. 

I am well aware that many of you reading this will say that is completely foolish and that you cannot just decide to do something without the necessary resources. However I choose not to think that way as it is a very limiting way of thinking to consider your resources ahead of your desires. To be completely honest, it probably isn’t the way you choose to think either however it is a mindset you have likely inherited from older family members, teachers and so on who too were probably not thinking. 

Thinking is crucial. You have heard me say before that you become a product of your thoughts. The greatest decision makers to ever exist are also some of the greatest thinkers. Harnessing the ability to govern your own thoughts will set you out from the rest. Our thoughts ultimately control the decisions we make and in turn will dictate how we respond to our experiences and surroundings. 

By taking charge of your own thoughts, you guarantee yourself the resources and opportunities to do and have whatever you want. 

It is important to know and understand that the greatest roadblock you will encounter when making important decisions in your life is circumstances. Circumstances may cause detours but they should never be permitted to stop you from making important timely decisions. I have heard so many people say that their dreams and goals have been crushed before as a result of circumstances. Make a decision to hold firm on your vision and positive ways to improve your circumstances will begin to flow in your mind. 

Your life is important and at its very best - life is short. You have the potential to do anything you choose and the opportunity to do it well. The only thing holding you back is yourself making the decisions. Take away from this that decisions will always present themselves. You must make a decision when it first arrives, where you are with what you have got. By making a decision and exercising this simple muscle, you will quite literally construct your wildest dreams into reality. 

Utilise your decision making power and be all that you are capable of being.
